To the top.

This post will only be useful for Google Chrome users.

Feel free to read it anyway though!

If you’re not on Chrome, you should really check it out!

There’s something I’ve noticed while using Safari (and other apps) on iOS that seems to really come in handy. Whenever you need to get to the top of the page you’re on, tap the status bar at the top of the screen (the bar with the time, battery, etc.) and it takes you directly to the top.

Lately I’ve been finding myself at the bottom some long page somewhere on the internet and wanting a smooth, subtle technique to get me to the top. That’s when I thought it’d be great to have something similar to the status bar on the iPhone that’s low key and takes me back up.

So I looked in the Chrome app store and found this: “Scroll to top bar”.

It’s a great but it looks a bit rough, so I tweaked the CSS of the extension to make it look a little friendlier.

  1. If you’d like this extension with my tweaks follow these steps:
  2. Download the extension.
  3. Locate the Chrome extension files on your computer. (Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default/Extensions/ )
  4. Open the file “Styles.css”.
  5. Select all of the text, delete it, and replace it with this css.

After you change the css, it’s an awesome extension.

I took this photo while at the beach over the summer. It’s the sign of a market that’s been open as long as I can remember. During that trip we found out it had closed. Photo taken on iPhone 4.
